The Position: Senior Metallurgist

Location: Durango, State of Durango, North Mexico

 

Position Summary

As Senior Metallurgist, he/she will play a pivotal role in the minerals laboratory in Durango. As such, the successful candidate must possess the technical competence and experience of having previously worked in laboratories. The ideal candidate has the willingness and capabilities to learn, implement and uphold the quality processes and best practices in its laboratories. The successful candidate will spend the first six months in training at minerals laboratories, most likely in Toronto, Canada. This will enable the new Senior Metallurgist to gain firsthand exposure and experience in the best practices, techniques and processes.

 

Thereafter, he/she will return to the Durango-based minerals team, which currently has 14 people—50% of which are engineers and the remaining are technical personnel—to help manage and complete laboratory and pilot plant research programs. Responsibilities as Senior Metallurgist include ensuring that projects meet client and industry standards for quality, health, safety, environment and productivity. He/she is an independent self-starter, a driven and energetic individual who is able to encourage and motivate others within the minerals division.

 

He/she will have an international mindset with fluid communications skills, one who is able to establish and build relations with other minerals operations. The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, someone who can create and foment a team environment within the Durango laboratory and with other Minerals operations worldwide. He/she must be fluent in both written and oral English, with some knowledge of Spanish as a plus.
